The Raymore-Peculiar School District is proud to share that Superintendent Dr. Mike Slagle has been selected to receive the Robert L. Pearce Award, the Missouri Association of School Administratorsโ highest recognition for a public school superintendent.
Presented annually to one superintendent in Missouri, the award honors exceptional leadership, professional integrity and a sustained commitment to strengthening public education.
A defining focus of Dr. Slagleโs leadership has been expanding real-world learning and creating meaningful choices and experiences for students. Under his guidance, the district has continued to grow opportunities that connect classroom learning to real skills, real challenges and real futures. This work reflects a shared belief that students are best prepared for life when they are engaged in authentic learning experiences that build confidence, purpose and possibility.
Dr. Slagle is also known for prioritizing relationships with students, staff and families. Whether greeting students each morning or listening to community feedback, he believes strong schools are built through trust, visibility and open communication.
โThis recognition reflects the work of our entire Ray-Pec community,โ said Board President Ruth Johnson. โDr. Slagle leads with genuine care, transparency and a deep commitment to ensuring students have meaningful opportunities to learn and grow.โ
In addition to receiving the Pearce Award, Dr. Slagle was also named Administrator of the Year by the Missouri School Public Relations Association. The honor recognizes his leadership in supporting effective communication practices and fostering strong partnerships with families and the community.
In accepting the awards, Dr. Slagle shared that recognitions like this are never about one individual, but about the teams, families and communities who work together for all students.
The Pearce Award includes a five hundred dollar honorarium for the superintendent and a five hundred dollar scholarship that will be awarded to a Raymore-Peculiar student.
The district looks forward to celebrating this statewide recognition in the coming weeks.
