Raymore-Peculiar High School has been approved to establish an Army Junior Reserve Officersโ€™ Training Corps (JROTC) program, following official notification from the United States Army Cadet Command earlier this week. The program is scheduled to begin April 1, 2027.

The approval represents a meaningful expansion of leadership and learning opportunities available to Ray-Pec students and reflects the districtโ€™s commitment to ensuring that Choice Happens Here.

The Army JROTC program is not solely a military recruiting program. Instead, it is a nationally recognized leadership development program focused on citizenship, character, responsibility, service and leadership. Students who participate build confidence, develop teamwork and communication skills, and gain experience through structured leadership opportunities that can support a variety of postsecondary paths.

Over the coming year, the district will work closely with U.S. Army Cadet Command and the 3rd Brigade JROTC leadership team to complete the establishment process. Planning efforts will include curriculum development, staffing and student recruitment. Facility considerations for the program are included in the Prop RP bond election on April 7.

Programs such as JROTC help expand the ways students can discover their strengths and pursue meaningful futures. For some students, structured leadership opportunities provide the challenge and sense of purpose that help them realize what they are capable of achieving.

District leaders expressed appreciation to the Board of Education for its support throughout the process and will continue to provide updates as implementation moves forward.
