The Ray-Pec Panthers Boys Golf Team finished in 2nd place in the Suburban Gold Conference tournament on April 30 at Fred Arbanas! 🥈 The Panthers had a team score of 315 led by 3 All-Conference players: Jack Mallory 72, Landon Jambrosic 76, and Ethan Priest 82. The Board recognized Ray-Pec High School Senior Kristin Baumgardner, who was selected as the Young Professional of the Month for March at Cass Career Center. Kristin is a student in the Agriculture Program at Cass Career Center in Harrisonville. She is also a member of Cass Career Center FFA and National Technical Honor Society, and she also serves as a CCC Student Ambassador. Kristin has been accepted to College of the Ozarks. She plans to major in Animal Science and minor in Agronomy. Kristin is pictured with School Board Vice President Deanna Olson.

Tyler Swift, Ray-Pec Class of 2020, won "Business Student of the Year" at Emporia State University on April 23. He is a candidate for the overall "Newberg Student of the Year" awarded to only one graduating senior in the entire university. The winner is scheduled to be announced Saturday, April 27. In his speech on April 23, Tyler gave a lot of kudos to his Ray-Pec High School teachers, including Tina Fultz and Heidi Lanksbury, for the motivation and support they provided in high school helping him to a dual major in both Accounting and Spanish.

Ray-Pec High School Student Brady Kelly recently passed his FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107). This certification is essential for anyone who wants to become a commercial drone pilot. To obtain this certification, the applicant must demonstrate knowledge aligned with the Remote Pilot Certificate with a sUAS rating and the ability to act as a remote pilot-in-command (PIC). The certification process involves taking an aeronautical knowledge exam that covers various topics, such as regulations, airspace classification, operating requirements, flight restrictions, weather, loading, performance, emergency procedures, decision-making, judgment, effects of drugs and alcohol, airport operations, maintenance, and preflight inspection procedures. To become a commercial drone pilot, the applicant must meet certain requirements, such as being at least 16 years old, being able to read, speak, write, and understand English, and being in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a drone.

Congratulations to Ashton Jermain! 🏀 Ashton was named to the All-District team for District 6 as well as being selected by the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association as a player in the Missouri vs Kansas All-Star game. This game will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas on April 12th. Coach Scott Jermain was also selected as a coach in the game.

The Missouri State Thespian Conference is being held in Kansas City on January 4th, 5th, and 6th. Ray-Pec High School was selected to perform "Romeo and Juliet" as one of the MAINSTAGE productions. Ray-Pec will be peforming at the Folly Theater tonight at 7:30 pm. 🎭 Each year, only a handful of plays are selected to perform at the festival. This marks the 10th time that RPHS has performed a mainstage show at the Missouri State Conference since 1973.

The School Board recognized four cross country runners who earned All-State honors at the State Class 5 Cross Country Championships on Nov. 4 in Columbia. The girls placed 5th overall as a team, with Maya York and Ashlyn Smith finishing 6th and 14th respectively to claim All-State honors as individuals. The School Board on Nov. 16 recognized the Ray-Pec High School Softball Team for finishing the season with a record of 33-3 and third place in the MSHSAA Class 5 state tournament. Three players were selected to the All-State Teams. Kelsie Donaldson and Hayden Kurtz received First Team All-State Honors, while Carmen Boxberger was named to the Second Team All-State. Conference Champs and District Runners Up! ⚽ The boys gave Rockhurst everything they could handle. They took the undefeated Hawklets to extra time but, with a 3-2 loss, the Boys' Soccer season has come to an end. After a 5-5 start, the team rallied to win 10 of their last 12 games and come within minutes of punching their ticket to the State Tournament. What an incredible season! 💛🐾🖤

With their 2-0 win over Blue Springs South last night, the Boys' Soccer team are Conference Champs! 🏆⚽️ District play begins tomorrow as your 3rd seeded Panthers take on the 6-seed, Joplin High School, at 4:00 pm. All District Tournament games will be held at Lee's Summit West this year.

Ray-Pec High School and Ninth Grade Center students were excited to work with members of the Kansas City Symphony yesterday. Orchestra experts came to work with the students on their All-District materials. The students got to work in sectionals with Kansas City Symphony members that play their specific instrument! What a great day to be a Ray-Pec Orchestra member and team up with these community mentors!
