Raymore-Peculiar School District is implementing several transportation route changes for the 2026-27 school year following a comprehensive review of every bus route in partnership with First Student.
The review identified opportunities to improve transportation reliability, better align bus stop locations with state transportation guidelines, and enhance the overall transportation experience for students.
One of the most significant improvements is the elimination of Ninth Grade Center shuttle routes. Beginning this school year, Ninth Grade Center students will ride directly to and from school rather than transferring buses at South Middle School. This change provides students with a more direct route to school and reduces delays associated with shuttle transfers.
To support these improvements, bus stop locations throughout the district have been reviewed and adjusted. In many neighborhoods, bus stops will be consolidated to community stop locations, such as intersections and corners, rather than individual house stops. As a result, some students may have a new walking path, a different pickup location, or may need to walk farther to and from their assigned bus stop than in previous years. For some families, these changes may require adjustments to daily routines.
While many families will experience no change to their transportation, these adjustments are intended to improve overall transportation reliability, better align bus stop locations with state transportation guidelines, and strengthen transportation services for students across the district.
The district does not anticipate longer ride times. In many cases, students may experience similar or even shorter rides because buses will make fewer stops and routes will operate more efficiently.
Transportation information will be available through Focus after routes are finalized following student registration. Families will be notified when updated route information becomes available during the week of Aug. 10 and are encouraged to review their student's transportation information before the first day of school.
The district recognizes that transportation changes may require adjustments to daily routines for some families. However, the district believes these improvements will create a more reliable transportation system that will strengthen services for all students.
