In creating the Ray-Pec LEAD Center, the district wanted to create an experience for students that was unlike what they had experienced before and complement their high school experience. With opportunities for real-world learning, career and technical education, teacher training, entrepreneurial experiences and more, students are not only engaged in a traditional learning experience, but also prepared to propel into their next avenues of life.

Paige Kallenbach, a Ray-Pec High School student with the Ray-Pec LEAD center, presented a mural project to Peculiar Mayor Doug Stark and the Board of Aldermen at the March 20 meeting. The mural will be displayed at City Hall.

Teacher Academy Scholar Teachers taught their ELL lessons yesterday. Thanks to Libby MacLean, our December Scholar Teacher Spotlight for being our ELL student.
Scholar Teachers were tasked with writing a lesson plan for their future classroom and purposefully adding in English Language Learner supports. They then had to teach the lesson to the Teacher Academy cohort! #GYO #FutureTeachers #TeacherAcademy

Today was the soft opening for the coffee shop at the Ray-Pec LEAD Center!
Superintendent Dr. Mike Slagle was the first customer at the coffee shop, which is staffed by students from the high school Transition Class.

Students at Enterprise and Design presented their GBI projects this week to a panel of evaluators. Students looked into everyday processes throughout the District to make recommendations on becoming more efficient.
Enterprise and Design students had the opportunity to discuss Empathy as step 1 in the Design Thinking Process with a subject matter expert. The guest speaker was Veronica Alvidrez from Startland, an organization focused on building entrepreneurial skills in the KC community.

LEAD Center Electrical Students working on residential circuits and applications.
During the LEAD Center dedication ceremony, four students, representing program areas now offered at the facility, spoke about what the LEAD Center experience means to them. The students are Jeri Walters, Blake Kirby, Mackenzey Spiller, and Kai Eastwood.
