April 1st Staff Development

On Monday, April 1st, Ninth Grade Center and High School staff worked together with instructional coaches to focus on effective instructional strategies and practices. These days are so valuable for our staff so that we can be the best we can for our students. Thank you for adjusting your schedules on these days so that we can become better educators for our students.

April 5th is the End of Progress Period for Semester 2

April 5th is the last day of the second progress period for the second semester. Teachers will have their grades submitted by the middle of next week and progress reports should be emailed out near the end of next week. With the end of this progress period, we now have ⅓ of the semester remaining. Students, please be sure you are putting in your best effort to have a strong finish to your freshman year of high school!

Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8th

On Monday, April 8th, a partial solar eclipse will be visible in our area. At the Ninth Grade Center, we will be outside during the eclipse to witness this rare event.

As always, student safety is our top concern. Looking directly at the sun is unsafe. The only safe way to look at the un-eclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as "eclipse glasses." Per NASA, homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the sun. The District has purchased and will provide all students and participants who attend the outdoor activities eclipse glasses to wear during the event.

End-of-Year Assessments

Students will be taking the NWEA for math on either April 23rd-24th or April 25th-26th, depending on which math course they are enrolled in. They will be taking the NWEA for English Language Arts on April 29th-30th. The NWEA assessments are taken three times throughout the school year and provide us with data that allows us to see learning growth throughout the course of the school year.

During the week of May 13th, students will be taking the Missouri End-Of-Course Exams in Biology and Algebra 1. These assessments are required by the state of Missouri for reporting purposes and also allow us to measure student learning in these content areas.
