Four ninth graders were among 15 singers who represented the Raymore-Peculiar School District last week at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Honor Choirs in Denver, Colorado.

These high school students represented the Raymore-Peculiar School District last week at the Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Honor Choirs in Denver, Colorado. 

Singers were selected from recorded auditions in the fall against the top singers in seven states.

  • Noah Smith was the first-ever Ray-Pec student to participate in the SWACDA Gospel Choir.

  • These students participated in the 7-9 Treble Honor Choir: Austin Butterworth (EMS), Delaney Burk (NGC), Amari Russell (NGC), Lydia Littlejohn (NGC), Hailey Chang (SMS), Elyssa Garumann (NGC), Isla Harper (EMS), Ruslana Trpkosh (EMS), and Kennady Smith (SMS).

  • These four students participated in the 10-12 Mixed Choir: Serena Bursley, Gracie Chambers, Caitlin Gregory, and Destinee Shaffer. They are all students at the high school.

  • Vocal Music Teacher Stephen Rew also presented a session titled “Brain Smart Rehearsal Strategies” to a standing-room-only crowd.
