Today our Grade 3โ€“5 students had an amazing opportunity to meet Kansas City Author Angela Cervantes via Google Meet!

In preparation for the visit, students explored her website and delved into her books and the stories she created. During the session, Angela shared what inspired her to become a writer, gave insights into her writing process, and answered student questions.

Angela was impressed by how much our students knew about her work and writing, thanks to the thoughtful questions they prepared. It was an inspiring experience for all!

April 7 Bond Election: Safety, Choice, Opportunity for All

On April 7, voters will consider a $45 million bond proposal. The Board of Education approved placing the measure on the ballot at a special board meeting. The proposed bond is structured as a no-tax-rate increase measure. If approved, the districtโ€™s debt service tax rate is projected to remain the same, based on current state school finance law.

๏ปฟThe proposed bond focuses on:

Safety and security improvements

Early childhood learning spaces

Expanded student learning and activity opportunities

Student activities and site improvements

Maintaining existing facilities

With safety leading the way, proposed improvements would impact every school in the district.

The district website will serve as the primary source for bond information and updates in the weeks ahead. Learn more at www.raypec.org/PropRP2026.

๐Ÿ“šโœจ What an amazing experience at Eagle Glen!

On Friday, we had the joy of welcoming Kansas City author and illustrator Brad Sneed! Our Kโ€“2 students went behind the scenes of book creation as Brad shared how he uses his imagination to tell stories, plans ideas with storyboards, and transforms simple doodles into incredible books. It was truly inspiring to see creativity come to life!

Be sure to check out Ray-Pec School Districtโ€™s January 23 Newsletter to see this special visit highlighted.

The excitement continues! On February 20, students in Grades 3โ€“5 will meet Kansas City author and award-winning chapter book writer Angela Cervantes, author of favorites like Lety Out Loud, Anomalies 51, The Cursed Moon, and Gaby, Lost and Found.

We feel so grateful to provide these memorable, enriching experiences for our studentsโ€”made possible through Book Fair funds. Thank you for supporting literacy and learning at Eagle Glen! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“–
