Snow day on Thursday!
Due to the forecast for inclement weather and dangerous cold, there will be no school on Thursday, which was scheduled as an early release day. It will be a traditional snow day. No virtual classes will be held on Thursday.
All elementary school and middle school after-school activities and evening events will be canceled and/or rescheduled. The high school girls' basketball game for Thursday is canceled.
School Board meeting time is changed
The December School Board meeting open session is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Ray-Pec Innovation Academy, 21001 S. School Rd., Peculiar.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, Panther Pride will open at 8 a.m. to provide care to families who are already enrolled. Panther Pride will provide care at Raymore Elementary School only. The charge is $30 for the day. Space is limited, due to the staffing ratio. Watch for additional communication from Panther Pride.
Shark’s Den at Shull Early Learning Center will open at 8 a.m. to provide care to students already enrolled in the program. Care hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This snow day will not be made up. The last day of school will remain unchanged at this time, and is currently scheduled for May 23, 2023.
“With the National Weather Service’s forecast, and their high degree of confidence in that forecast, we feel it was prudent for us to announce the decision about Thursday earlier than we normally would have done, so that parents, students, and staff can make plans accordingly,” said Superintendent Dr. Mike Slagle.
The decision to close school is always a difficult one. Every effort is made to consider the safety of the students, the safety of the faculty, and the convenience to parents when making such decisions. Your cooperation, understanding, and assistance is appreciated.
